the lawtrepreneur digital summit 2021

In its second year running, the Lawtrepreneur Digital Summit focuses on exploring what does the business of modern law look like?

our mission

While some in the legal profession have fared well in the post-coronavirus era, the reality is the viability of many legal practices has been deeply impacted by the coronavirus.

For these lawyers and legal professionals, the coronavirus is an existential threat to their livelihoods and their ability to provide for their loved ones. For others, the coronavirus is yet another barrier to their continued presence in the legal profession.

The reality is the majority of lawyers are not prepared to do business in the digital economy.

Worse, the skills needed to succeeded in this new environment are not taught in law schools and are largely not provided by employers.

Recognizing the need for lawyers to acquire new skills and training in order to modernize their legal practices, the Lawtrepreneur Learning Community provides lawyers and legal professionals with the resources, guidance and community they need to practice effectively, deliver more value to clients and live a healthier life.

the lawtrepreneur digital summit 2021

The Lawtrepreneur Digital Summit is designed to highlight the information, strategies and people that are critical to the successful design of a career and practice modernization strategy for lawyers and other legal professionals.

The inaugural Lawtrepreneur Digital Summit gathered over 40 legal practitioners in over three weeks to discuss what makes a modern lawyer modern?

In April 2021, the Digital Summit take on the issues associated with the question what does the business of modern law look like?

In April 2020, the Lawtrepreneur Digital Summit featured over forty speakers over twenty sessions, exploring what makes a modern lawyer modern.

In 2021, the Lawtrepreneur Digital Summit will explore what the business of modern law looks like, showcasing the resources, strategies and yes, the technologies powering the law practices of tomorrow.

With the support of our sponsors, we intend to craft a virtual experience unlike any other legal conference: an immersive event featuring speed networking experiences and virtual exhibitor spaces so that participants can build real connections online.

We are also recognize the need for legal communities around the world to modernize their practices. That is why we are seeking event partners and institutional organizations willing to take on the challenge to make the Summit a collaborative and co-creative event relevant to their local legal community.

Yes, these are ambitious goals. And yes, a lot of pieces need to fall into place in order to make this vision a reality.

However, with your support, the leadership of forward thinking sponsors and event partners and yes, a tiny bit of luck, we believe this vision could be made real.

who the summit is for

While we think the issues in the Summit will be relevant to a whole host of people, here are the groups we think will derive the most value from the Summit:

  • Solo and Small Firm Lawyers: While there may be a lot of events geared for solo and small firm legal practitioners, rarely are events designed and led by a small firm lawyer. Every element of the Summit – and yes, the Learning Community – is designed around the needs of this community.
  • Forward-Thinking Lawyers. The Lawtrepreneur Digital Summit is focused on the strategies and tools underpinning the modernization of the legal profession. If you want to see how to use these strategies and tools in your practice, the Summit is the place for you.
  • Women and Lawyers of Colour. The Lawtrepreneur Learning Community is led by a person of colour intimately aware of the challenges facing our community members in the growth of their careers. Read more. The Lawtrepreneur Digital Summit is intentionally designed to disrupt and dismantle barriers to the success of these communities.

Who the summit is not for…

We value your time and energy. That’s why we also want to make it clear who this Summit is not for.

First, if the traditional way of practicing law works for you, you probably will not find much value in a lot of the content featured in the Summit. In all likelihood, your time will be much better spent with your clients and loved ones.

Second, the Summit is not for those lacking in curiosity.  In the post-pandemic world, much of the future of legal practice is uncertain, especially as technological advances continue to eclipse progressions in law. If you aren’t interested in the future of legal practice, this is probably not the right event for you.

Lastly, the Summit is not for those who are disrespectful. While we encourage constructive debates, we have no tolerance for those intolerant of others. Think of this rule as the extension of the Golden Rule: We treat others the way they wish to be treated as demonstrated by how they treat others.
